Kawempe National Referra
Kawempe National Referral Hospital is a 200-bed capacity hospital created by cabinet minute No. 23(2018) as a National Referral Hospital. We are located in Kampala, Kawempe Division approx. 6 km from the city center -along Kampala-Gulu high-way.
The hospital was Constructed in 2014 at about US$11.3 million or Shs. 42.9 billion under the Mulago Kampala City Council Project (MKCCAP) funded by African Development Bank project -AFDB and officially opened to the public in 2016. To decongest Mulago National Referral Hospital.
We offer specialized health care in obstetrics, Paedicatios, Adolescent health, HIV/AIDS care, Research and Training and our vision is to be “To be a model specialized National Referral Hospital in the country and East Africa”. The Hospital was constructed to support the strategies of the Government of Uganda for the development of the health sector and to contribute to the reduction in maternal and neonatal mortalities through improvement of healthcare services delivery. One of the key objectives of the hospital is to operationalize and strengthen management systems through administrative services, and to contribute to the National Health Policy development through operational research.
